Internet Chat Room Sting

On March 3rd, 2011, Detectives from the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, working under the Tri-Lakes ICAC Task Force, traveled to St Joseph Missouri. 

 

There, along with Detectives from Buchanan County and the Western Mo Cyber Crimes Task Force, they and arrested 38 Yr Old Ronald Leroy Bass, Jr..  Ronald Bass, Jr.,  had been a target of a 20 month investigation where he had made contact with a detective, who was posing as an underage female from Stone County, over 80 times in an Internet Chat Room. 

 

During the conversations, several of the chats turned sexual in nature.  Stone County Prosecutor charged Ronald Bass, Jr., with 9 counts of Enticement of a Child (Actor 21 yrs of Age or Older and Child Less Than 15 Yrs of Age)  an Unclassified Felony.  Each count could carry a minimum of 5 yrs in the Mo Department of Corrections if convicted.


He is currently incarcerated at the Stone County Jail on a bond of $50,000.00 cash or surety.
