Assault 1st Degree-Serious Physical Injury

Stone County Sheriffs OfficeOn May 13th, 2009, at approximately 4:30 PM, a grey vehicle pulled up in front of the Stone County Law Enforcement Center. The driver, a 31 yr old male from McCord Bend Village, got out and came to the front lobby covered in blood. He told the lobby deputies that he had been shot in the face. Detectives and Deputies went immediately to his location to give medical assistance until the ambulance arrived. During this time they did get a partial name of a possible suspect. Other Deputies then responded to McCord Bend Road where the incident occurred to locate and talk with possible witnesses. The victim was taken by ambulance to Crane where he was flown to Cox South with severe head wounds. As of this morning the victim was still in the hospital in stable condition.
Detectives are currently doing further interviews with several individuals today to ascertain the identity of the suspect. As the case progresses, further releases will be made.
