Assault 1st Degree-Serious Physical Injury

Stone County Sheriffs OfficeOn May 13th, 2009, at approximately 4:30 PM, a grey vehicle pulled up in front of the Stone County Law Enforcement Center. The driver, a 31 yr old male from McCord Bend Village, got out and came to the front lobby covered in blood. He told the lobby deputies that he had been shot in the face. Detectives and Deputies went immediately to his location to give medical assistance until the ambulance arrived. During this time they did get a partial name of a possible suspect. Other Deputies then responded to McCord Bend Road where the incident occurred to locate and talk with possible witnesses. The victim was taken by ambulance to Crane where he was flown to Cox South with severe head wounds. As of this morning the victim was still in the hospital in stable condition.
Detectives are currently doing further interviews with several individuals today to ascertain the identity of the suspect. As the case progresses, further releases will be made.

On May 13th, 2009, at approximately 4:30 PM, a grey vehicle pulled up in front of the Stone County Law Enforcement Center. The driver, a 31 yr old male from McCord Bend Village, got out and came to the front lobby covered in blood. He told the lobby deputies that he had been shot in the face.
It has now been determined that the victim received a puncture wound to the eye socket area, and had not been shot as previously reported.
As of this morning the victim was still in the hospital in stable condition.
After canvassing the area where the incident occurred, and conducting several field interviews of possible witnesses, Stone County Detectives have arrested a suspect in this case. When the Stone County Prosecuting Attorney files charges, then the suspect's identity and charges will be released.


As the case progresses, further releases will be made.

Other Deputies then responded to McCord Bend Road where the incident occurred to locate and talk with possible witnesses.  The victim was taken by ambulance to Crane where he was flown to Cox South with severe head wounds.  As of this morning the victim was still in the hospital in stable condition.  It was later determined that the victim was not shot; the injury was instead, a puncture wound to the eye.

Detectives spent the evening of May 13th and then all day on Thursday, May 14th, conducting interviews with several individuals in the area. At this time two individuals have been arrested:

Walter Eugene Baker, 21 Yr Old W/M from Ozark, Mo

And

Teresa Lynn Bunnell, 38 Yr Old W/F from Ozark, Mo

These two individuals have been charged with:

Class A Felony Assault 1st Degree-Serious Physical Injury and Unclassified Felony Armed Criminal Action. A Class A Felony is punishable by a minimum 10 yrs up to 30 years or Life in Mo Department of Corrections.

Also charged but not located/arrested is:

Walker John Erwin, 24 Yr Old W/M from Ponce De Leon, Mo.

Walker John Erwin is also charged with the same offense as both Walter Baker and Teresa Bunnell.

Bond on all three of the individuals has been set at $250,000.00 cash or surety.
