News Release

August 8, 2012

I just want to say that it has been a true honor to serve the citizens of Stone County for the past 18 years.  During this time, I have made many friends throughout the county, and I want to say “Thank You” for allowing me to be a piece of their life.

Yesterday, the people of Stone County decided to make a change in the leadership of the Sheriff’s Office.  I have worked hard to make this office one of the most respected Sheriff’s Offices in the State of Missouri.  I pray, that as citizens, you will keep each deputy and employee in your prayers, and support them as they continue to provide you with the security you so rightly deserve.

As for me, I have had nearly 40 wonderful years in law enforcement.  I have worked with some of the best men and women in the business.  I can leave this office in January with my head held high, with no regrets, knowing that God has other and better plans for me.

To the men and women who have served under me, I want to let you know that you have been a blessing to me.  My prayers for your safety and well being will continue.

Richard L. Hill

Sheriff, Stone County
