STONE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

PRESS RELEASE

 

On February 7^th, 2012, Officers from the Branson West Police Department received information about a resident in the county purchasing a suspicious amount of Pseudo-ephedrine from a store in their city.  They contacted the COMET Drug Task Force who checked on-line records database they use that tracks the sale of Pseudo-ephedrine and located where the individual had made purchases of Pseudo-ephedrine and after running a computer check saw he had arrests in the past for narcotics. With that information, they contacted the Stone County Sheriff’s Office and along with County Deputies, went to the location and made contact with the individual.

 

The individual, Kent Cochran, a 52 yr old male from Reeds Spring, was contacted at his residence and allowed the Investigators to come into his residence.  Once inside, other items of interest were seen in plain sight and the residence was secured and a search warrant was applied for and granted through the courts.  After serving the warrant, Deputies and Investigators located several items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, including chemicals, pills, bottles, glassware, and also some finished methamphetamine.

 

Kent Cochran was taken into custody and transported to the Stone County Sheriff’s Office where he was held on a 24 hr investigative hold.  On Wednesday, February 8^th, the Prosecuting Attorney charged him with the following:

Possession of a Controlled Substance   Class C Felony

Distribute or Attempt to Possess a Controlled Substance   Class B Felony

Possess Chemicals with Intent to Manufacture a Controlled Substance   Class C Felony

Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia-Amphetamine/Methamphetamine   Class D Felony

 

Kent Cochran’s bond was set at $50,000 Cash Only and remains incarcerated at the Stone County Jail.
